FM 777
The idea of a Catholic radio station in Pakistan was first proposed in 2006 by Fr. Arthur Charles of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Karachi.〔(AsiaNews 6 December 2006 )〕
After the launch of Good News TV, the first Catholic satellite television network in the country, and Agahi, an Urdu news weekly published by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Karachi, Fr Arthur Charles has launched the first Catholic radio station in Pakistan, FM 777, on 22 November 2014. The online radio station will broadcast on the Internet at www.fm777.pk.
The aim of the station is “to spread the message of Jesus Christ and the teachings of the Church to the world, through the medium of the radio”. To achieve this goal programs will be aired in various European and Asian languages including Tamil, Konkani, Hindi and Arabic.
The station operates through a team of 7 volunteers who broadcast up to 6 hours of original content live daily with the remainder being pre-recorded content. Programs are made accessible via the Internet 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through a live stream and include some podcasts that can be accessed anytime.
The Archdiocese of Karachi offers faith-based content via several media platforms including an English weekly The Christian Voice, Internet based Good News Catholic TV, (at the moment off air), the weekly newspaper Agahi, web-based edition of Agahi, a Facebook page and Twitter.〔 (Signis November 22, 2014 )〕
Archbishop Joseph Coutts inaugurated the station at St Patrick's High School, Karachi on November 22, 2014.〔( Catholic News Agency December 9, 2014 )〕
